I really liked the movie, but Return of the Jedi has always been my favorite Star Wars movie, so bear that in mind. LOL

spoilers )

While I enjoyed the movie, I know lots of people did not or enjoyed it partially. My squee will not be diminished by criticism of the movie. :)

1. We saw Solo. I was extremely skeptical but ended up very pleasantly surprised by how good the movie is. SPOILERS )

2. Emma and I watched The Hitman's Bodyguard last night. So much fun, y'all. It's like an AU Fury and AU Deadpool go on a road trip. It's really violent but very, very funny. If you like Deadpool, you'll like this one.

3. watch them rolling back by napricot; Infinity Wars Spoilers; Bucky/Steve

“The journey to reach Thanos will take some time. We will spend that time getting in touch with our feelings and loving each other and our beloved lost comrades. We will share and communicate! We will build a bifrost of love and thus reach our beloved dead even across the voids between planes! In this way, we will make sure they remain connected to us.”

“Gross,” mutters Nebula.

“And then! We will murder Thanos with our bare hands!! Is that understood?!” finishes Thor, roaring by now, a bright, crazed grin fixed on his face. Sparks of lightning are crackling off of him. Steve inches his chair back from him, just in case.

1. We were supposed to go to my parents' today, but Fiona threw up all night long, poor baby. She was pretty much okay today, but Josh and I both were way too wiped for an 8 hour drive. So, tomorrow we leave!

2. I love technology. I love the internet. I am not a luddite. But you know that moment when you realize that you were born on the other side of the tech chasm, that you didn't grow up with google or smart phones or Siri? I had one of those this week when I was reading reviews of Rogue One in which the physical appearance of a character was pretty universally panned, and the whole time I was watching the movie, I was all Spoilers for the name of a character in the movie )

3. I took all of your excellent advice and spent most of this week reading Hobbit fanfic. However, I've run into a problem there. I am getting bored with the eleventy millionth retelling of the quest for Erebor. No matter the variations, I can read the same story only so many times before it starts to get boring. And there are surprisingly few fics that are set post movie that don't also go through 100,000 words of retelling the quest. I am also not very interested in modern AUs for this fandom. What do?

1. I got the most awesome package from [personal profile] executrix. I got books and notebooks and lip balm and a purse among other treats. Thank you so much, sweetie. Your holiday happies are winging their way to you now.

2. I have gotten Christmas cards from [livejournal.com profile] talitha78, [livejournal.com profile] crazydiamondsue, [personal profile] spikedluv, [livejournal.com profile] shannon730 [personal profile] leesa_perrie, [personal profile] sholio, and [livejournal.com profile] decynthus. Thank you all so much!!!!

3. I wrote two treats in addition to my Yuletide assignment! I am super stoked. :) I still would like to write one more treat but suspect it won't happen since we're leaving on Thursday, and I've got loads to do before we're ready.

4. We saw Rogue One today. Wow. Just. Wow. I have to admit that I didn't care for the prequels; to me they detract from the original trilogy rather than adding to it. But Rogue One makes that original trilogy so much more poignant and meaningful. SPOILERS )

I had an idea that the spoilers for The Force Awakens )

I forgot to mention that Fiona woke up on Christmas morning covered in livid hives. We started Benadryl and removed as many contact sources as possible (no more bubble bath and we dried her off with one of my T-shirts, the peep show one Exec sent me, instead of a towel laundered in their detergent, etc). The next day, we contacted her doctor because they were still around and her face and hands and feet were swelling. So probably something she ate instead of something she touched. She's been on round the clock Benadryl since then, and I've been keeping a food diary. The hives are almost gone now, but the doc said we'd need to continue Benadryl for a day or two after they're completely gone.

To my knowledge, she ate nothing at Josh's family's she hadn't eaten before. She ate pancakes made from Bisquick with Great Value syrup; she'd eaten pancakes before although not for awhile since I am a bad mom and don't make breakfast and probably not that syrup. We ate at a Japanese restaurant Tuesday lunch and she didn't break out until Friday morning, so I don't think it could have been that delayed of a reaction. IDK Everything else was like apples and cheese and goldfish and lunch meat, all stuff she eats here.

Despite looking horrific, she wasn't super itchy and barely even scratched and she acted fine the whole time, playing and happy. So that's good.

I'm just terrified that she has a food allergy, or worst case scenario, something like celiac which bizarrely can manifest in hives and other skin ailments. :( I am hoping that she just decided to lick the poinsettias or shove some horrible rock in her mouth and that it's a one off thing.

I finally got to see the movie with Emma yesterday; she's going again to see it today with Josh. I'm getting my hair cut, or I'd go with them again.

Part of me really hates that we waited so long to see it because the audience yesterday was small and dead and I was all full of squee and joy. LOL However, the other part of me loathes the completely full movie theater loaded with so much squee and joy that the movie is difficult to hear. I was hoping for a bit of a happy medium, I guess.

Super proud that I managed to make it to the show spoiler-free. Whoooo!

I know lots of you wrote reviews which I skipped at the time; please link me!

So we made the trek to Memphis today to see Star Wars: Episode 3. I went with my husband Josh and three of his guy friends. What follows is our collective thoughts on the film. Most of the wittiness/cleverness can be attributed to not me. LOL

Spoilers out the ass, people )
